Oak barrel water butts combine the charm of a traditional barrel with the advantages of a modern water butt. Those in this section are made from genuine ex-distillery casks with black painted hoops and a stained finish. We also have rustic barrels for those that prefer a natural barrel finish.

Our stained barrel water butts can be purchased with a lift-off lid that has a thick hessian rope handle. They can also be purchased with a brass tap, a drainpipe diverter and a barrel stand as options. All barrel dimensions and capacities are approximate.

Best quality stock - Oak barrels are highly durable. WFOL have been in the barrel business for 20 years and only use the best quality barrel stock.

Water Butt Barrel Sizes

45-gallon

Approx. capacity 45-gallons (200 litres). Approx. 35" (88 cm) high, approx. diameter at middle 24" (60cm) to 25" (62cm).

56-gallon

Approx. capacity 56-gallons (250 litres). Approx. 37" (92 cm) high, approx. diameter at middle 27" (68cm) to 29" (73cm).

100-gallon

Approx. capacity 100-gallons (450 litres). Approx. 50" high (125 cm), approx. diameter at middle 36" (90cm).

	Taps Rainwater barrels have the option of having a brass or a wooden tap fitted near the bottom of the barrel. Brass taps are the most practical and are available in three different styles. The brass frog tap version includes a screw-on hose-tail to which a length of garden hose may be attached.
	Rain Barrel Lids Available with a loose lift-off lid or a fixed non-removable end. Either can be supplied with a notch to allow entry of a drainpipe. Fixed ends are a safer option for children. We recommend fixed ends because they restrict air flow into the barrel and also trap moist air inside the barrel. This is beneficial for the barrel during hot, dry weather conditions. Reduced air flow also reduces the possibility of stagnant water effects.
	Rainsaver Diverters Easy way to connect your water butt to a downpipe. This device diverts water from the downpipe to the water butt until the water butt is full. Any further water passes straight down the downpipe. No need for notches or lids. more info.
	Stands Use a stand to lift the barrel off the ground increasing the clearance from the tap to the ground by an additional 4". This makes it sufficient for most buckets and watering cans. Our stands are made from pressure treated timber for long life. more info.
