Position away from your property and use one or more pumping stations to feed water to the tank from one or more drainpipes.
Connect to a drainpipe using a rain diverter and also feed from other drainpipes using pumping stations.

An average sized home will occupy an area of approximately 750 sq feet. With 1cm of rainfall a home of this size will shed approximately 700 litres (150 gallons) of water.

Installation Options

The two options that we recommend for installation are the Drainpipe Diverter option and the Pumping System option.

Drainpipe Diverter Option

This option is to install the storage tank in close proximity to a drainpipe and use a drainpipe diverter to feed water into the tank. The diverter is fitted to the drainpipe by cutting a 30mm section of pipe out and slotting the diverter into the gap. Once the diverter is fitted it directs water to the tank until the tank is full; any further water is then directed down the drainpipe.

Pumping system Option

This option is to install the storage tank away from your property, possibly behind a garage or in the bottom corner of the garden where it can be screened off if desired. Pumping stations are then fitted at each drainpipe where water is to be collected. These stations contain a submersible pump with an automatic on/off float switch. When the water level in the pumping station barrel rises above a set level the float switches the pump on. When the water level in the barrel is low enough the float switches the pump off. Each pumping station is connected to the tank using standard garden hose (not supplied). The hose can be routed around the edges of your garden or dug into the ground.

One or more Pumping Stations.
13mm Garden Hose (not supplied).

Please note that all dimensions are approximate. These tanks are not suitable for storing potable water for human consumption.

Each tank has a manhole entry and a threaded pipe entry at the top, which may be used filling. A tap may be fitted to the threaded outlet at the bottom of the vessel.
